One question I hear from customers is, “Can I flip my pillow top mattress?”

Many people remember when you could flip your mattress over and sleep on the other side. Today, that’s not always possible.

Most pillow top mattresses sold today are one-sided. That means only the top is designed for sleeping.

But here’s something many shoppers don’t realize. You can still buy a double-sided pillow top mattress!

Can You Flip a Regular Pillow Top Mattress?

A double-sided pillow top mattress has a finished sleeping surface on both sides.

Instead of having comfort materials only on top, it has comfort layers above and below the supporting core.

That means you can actually flip the mattress and sleep comfortably on either side.

Before purchasing a pillow top mattress, ask these three questions:

1. Does the mattress have a finished sleeping surface on both sides? A true flippable mattress is designed for sleeping on either side.
2. Does the manufacturer recommend flipping it? Some mattresses should only be rotated, not flipped.
3. Does it have comfort layers on both sides? A reversible pillow top needs proper cushioning on both sleeping surfaces.

Also, don’t confuse a Euro top with a double-sided pillow top.

A Euro top describes how the comfort layer is attached to the mattress. It doesn’t automatically mean the mattress can be flipped.

Absolutely!

Some customers think a double-sided mattress must be firm and old-fashioned.

That’s simply not true.
